Airline Travel Isn't What It Used To Be

Sir, can I polish your gold silverware for you?

Take a look at this picture. It's from 1965. Study it for a while. Now, tell me what's different about this plane and the one you were last on. Is it the buffet?

Seriously, I can't believe that this was actually used in an advertisement, it is absolutely amazing. I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture but, the guy on the right is, in fact, serving champagne. The "chef" is serving rack of lamb. And, why yes, those are lobsters. Oh and don't forget about that whole duck hiding back there. Hmm...no caviar? Wait, there it is on the hard-boiled eggs. How the hell did they pull this off?

Let's see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. 5, 5 crew members serving food and drink. And the guys are wearing suits and ties. You can't say much for the interior but, hey who cares when you have that kind of flying Ritz Carlton.

How huge is this plane anyways? It looks like it's 50 feet wide, and wait, what's that? A spiral staircase? Where does that go? The cocktail lounge? The pool? Another restaurant? Man, what happened over the last 40 years. The airlines have really stopped caring about their passengers. Nowadays you actually have to pay for a SODA! And you don't even get a spiral staircase. Tssk, tssk.

By the way, no that isn't first class. That is "tourist" class.
