Suovas, Sami Slow-Food at Slussen

For the unawares Sami is another word for the people who live in Lappland, the northern part of Scandinavia. One of them has opened up a little food wagon in the square at Slussen. I'm not sure how long it will be there, so get over there while you can and eat some reindeer.

Suovas, a Sami word that means lightly smoked, "is prepared by dry-salting meat and smoking it in a closed hut over an open fire. Flavorful yet delicate, Suovas can be eaten in fine slices accompanied by pickled mushrooms and lingonberries." The suova menu is rather limited, 3 types in small and large portions. Prices are between 45 and 75 kronor. They also have cold beverages, and more importantly, cheap hot cups of coffee. I'm not entirely sure how slow they mean when they use the term. I would have found out if I hadn't accidentally left my wallet at home. Although P. Panda, who took the picture, assures me that the coffee was good.

I will give you a review of what Prancer tastes like as soon as I find myself hungry and in the vicinity of Slussen again. Which better be soon by the looks of the way the reindeer pelts are piling up on the right.

No, that is not me on the left. Or the right.
